Are you searching for help to deal with emotions that feel difficult to cope with or understand?
You are not alone. One in four people experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year.
With so many options of therapy available, it may feel confusing as you search for the help you are looking for.
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy? What type of counselling or psychotherapy is the right one for you? What does “Person Centred Therapy” mean?
We are unique individuals and one size does not fit all. Research shows that there is no one type of counselling better than another. Studies conclude time and again that the most important element of any form of counselling is the relationship that develops between the client and counsellor.
The terms and language that are used to describe the effects of psychological distress can be helpful in a search for explanations and answers in a quest to control what feels uncontrollable. These terms may also thwart an opportunity for a deeper level of understanding that might provide the explanations and answers you are looking for.
The question I believe is the most important to explore is “What has happened to you?” rather than “What is wrong with you?”
I hope that this site will help to answer some of the questions you are asking and help you to feel more able to reach out and find the right place for you.
If you would like more information please feel free to contact me. I will be very happy to answer any questions you may have.
