BA (Hons) MBACP
I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, belonging to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited register of practitioners. My experience comes from working as a Samaritan listener, working with survivors of rape and sexual violence for RSVP in Birmingham and my work in private practice.
I have worked with people who have found themselves struggling with the impact of Abuse; Anxiety; Disassociation; Depression; Domestic Abuse; Grief; Personality ‘disorders’; Post Traumatic Stress; Rape and Sexual Violence.
Carl Rogers was the pioneer of Person Centred psychotherapy in the 1950's. His theory was a radical approach at the time as it placed the counsellor and client on a more equal footing than other therapies available.
Person centred counselling is non-directive in the sense that you, as the client, lead the exploration into your thoughts and feelings. You are the expert in what feels the most troubling and I, as your counsellor, provide an empathic, accepting, genuine space for you to be fully heard.
By exploring the intricacies of your thoughts and feelings, as I walk alongside you with care and empathy, an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of your genuine self will be yours to grasp.
You may find that in taking a step towards exploring what feels the most difficult to look at, is a step towards finding the 'you' that seems lost.
